Halloween is just around the corner so we thought its time to share our Collection GUNCKEL'S APOTHECARY! This collection pays homage to medicinal practices from days gone by. With lots of vintage ephemera and references to a crude time in medicine but also a time of great advances in science and the art of healing. Gunckel's Apothecary will surely inspire the medic in you and with a touch of ghoulish curiosity this collection has a slight spin on the halloween theme.

Hope you find this collection medicinal for curing those scrappy urges to create.
Have fun and enjoy using the freebie too.

ROSETTE READY V.1 | Elements Pak
OOOH & Look... our fabulous Nifty Gal Zeneva Kovic has done an awesome tutorial showing us how to make fun and bright postcards using the Nifty Gal collection.
I love snail mail and receiving pleasant little surprises in the letter box, so decided to make some postcards to have on hand to be able to send to family and friends. I think it's always nice to receive something other than a bill in the post.
I created my postcards in PSE but you can also do this in Word. Lets have a look at how it can be done in word.

In the Example below, I added the paper selected from INSERT, then PICTURES and selected the papern I wanted. Then I cropped the paper to the size I wanted. From this point I added a paint splat in the same way and with each following element. I changed TEXT WRAPPING to THROUGH so that it would sit on top of each other. I did the same wuth the ribbon flower. However, I also added a shadow for more realism by going to PICTURE EFFECTS- Shadow and selecting the first one. You can keep adding as many elements as you like, or adding them to the side to cut out and work with separately.
In PSE, I made up some 6" x 4" (10cm x 15cm) cards, using the Painted Paper Series from the Girl Friday Collection. I added a vignette impression, some markings and elements. I also made up some printing sheets, adding some of the kit papers and elements. I then sent these sheets off to Officeworks to get printed using 170gsm silk paper and 300gsm uncoated paper for some of the cards (to try out the differences). Whenever I send anything off for printing I saturate the page by 30% because I found it usually gives a more true colour representation of what I see on teh computer screen.
In this case, because I printed on silk paper it gave a more saturated finish compared to the uncoated paper which was less intense. This is how my cards turned out in the left is the digital version.
When printed I was tempted to leave as is to be able to pop in the post but decided to add some embellishments. I used my Silhouette to cut some shapes from the printed paper as well as some of the printed elements and paired those with other embellishments from my stash. I decided to add something to the back of the cards with the left over scraps, here is a snippet of what I did to jazz them up!
How eye catching are Zeneva's postcards. The dimensional qualities and the fun extra embellishing on teh back of them makes these perfect little keepsakes I knwo I would absolutely love to find one of these little treasures in my letter box!
